Caamano is a small family business focused on sustainable fibers and unique design. Caamano artisan alpaca wraps have been made in our Peruvian mills for 35 years. Alpaca fiber is warmer than Merino wool, as soft as cashmere, naturally water resistant and lanolin-free.
Alpaca hair is completely hollow, unlike sheep wool which only has air pockets. This allows for extremely unique insulation properties. When the weather is less than desirable, alpaca fiber allows air to permeate the surface and become trapped inside. Your body warms the air and the fiber keeps you warm. In hot weather, the hollow fiber traps less heat and keeps you cool.
Speaking of comfort, alpaca fiber is as soft as cashmere! Royal Alpaca and Baby Alpaca have the came micron (length equivalent to one-millionth of a meter) as cashmere. Caamano uses Baby Alpaca exclusively. We are proud of our breeding process and our humane sheering practices yielding the most comfortable garments.
Many are unable to wear wool because it causes itching and rashes. Alpaca is hypoallergenic. Alpaca fiber does not contain lanolin, the itchy chemical typically found in most wool products.
