Notes: This folk art piece of St. Mary Magdalene, shows the healing grace of divine love. The hand of Christ reaches behind the veil to drive out the demons plaguing Mary, miraculously relieving her sufferings from severe psychological and spiritual trauma. It depicts the peaceful face of Mary Magdalene, her large, calm eyes gazing forward at the beholder. Her right hand holds a bottle of perfumed oils, like the oils she used to anoint the feet of Christ. Mary Magdalene is robed in a gown of purple and orange arrayed in flowers. She is wearing turquoise beads and earrings. Her head is encircled by a halo made of gold leaf. The background is composed of rhomboid shapes in turquoise and purple specked in gold. Each houses miniature paper flower white hearts. Mary Magdalene was the first follower of Christ, an apostle to the apostles, and a witness to Christ's Crucifixion, Burial and Resurrection.
