Title: "San Vicente." St. Vincent was a deacon in Sargossa, Spain. He preached on behalf of his Bishop who suffered from a speech impediment. He boldly defended him against persecution by the Roman Emperor. St. Vincent refused to burn the sacred Scripture when it was demanded of him in exchange for his release and he suffered every kind of torture for his faith. He was so peaceful throughout that he converted his jailer. He was martyred in 304 AD. His body was thrown into the sea and flocks of ravens defended it from vultures until his followers could recover it.
St. Vincent is the patron saint of wine, vinters, and sailors. "Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit, as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs." -Prayer of St. Vincent. "Almighty God, whose deacon Vincent, upheld by you, was not terrified by threats nor overcome by torments, strengthen us to endure all adversity with invincible and steadfast faith, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God , for ever and ever. Amen." Collect for St. Vincent's Feast Day.

Speaking of her work, Lynn Garlick says, "The diverse cultures and the landscape of this part of the country deeply and yet unintentionally influenced me both artistically and spiritually. I am nourished by Northern New Mexico's rugged wildness and rawness. The profound devotion found in the different traditions and faiths here are unusual and inspiring."
Moved by the sacred art of the retablos (paintings) and the santeros (saint makers) who made them, Lynn started creating them herself. Lynn hand carves and paints her original designs on the traditionally used Ponderosa pine planks. Then she decoupages high quality prints of her originals onto pine boards in an old school technique used for the Italian altar screens of medieval Europe.
The saints and angels are ready to hang or rest about your home. On the back of each retablo is an inspiring story about the angel or saint. Many of the descriptions also include a prayer. "The saints, angels and prayers have changed and blessed my life. My hope is that they touch and bless others as well."
